Capricorn 2024/25 Horoscope
Dec 21 - Sun ♐︎ Enters Capricorn ♑︎ 00’00, 09:20am
Dec 24 - Jupiter ♊︎ Square Saturn ♓︎ 14’01, 20:01pm
Boundaries, responsibility, tradition and the desire for freedom from these binds. The waxing square in the Jupiter and Saturn cycle has been in the background of the last few months and will continue over the beginning of next year. How much can you push your limits before you must face consequences? Or how much are you willing to have yours pushed upon before reinforcing your walls? The square presents real opportunities to answer these questions.
This is perhaps not the easiest or most gentle transit to occur over the holiday period, but it is certainly descriptive of navigating complex family dynamics and the fulfillment (or rejection) of obligations and family roles. Notice these dynamics and try to engage consciously with your own boundaries, and do your best to make these known during this time.
Dec 26 - Mercury ♐︎ Opposite Jupiter ♊︎ 13’46, 22:29pm
For a third and final time this year, Mercury and Jupiter oppose each other, revisiting and solidifying the themes of Mercury’s recent retrograde. This transit is all about communication and miscommunication, and how our own point of view is coming up against the institutional dogma of religion, higher education, and the state.
Interpersonally this transit can be optimistic, conversational, and allow for some really interesting discussions that expand your worldview and invite in new perspectives. Particularly of the political and spiritual variety. Just be careful you’re not standing on the soapbox being the loudest voice for too long, as Mercury in Sagittarius is prone to do.
Dec 27 - Mercury ♐︎ Square Saturn ♓︎ 14’11, 07:27am
This transit brings a heaviness to the previous day’s opposition, that can put us in a bit of a depressive frame of mind and can make overcoming the oppositional dynamic a bit of a trial. Attempts to solve problems are met with obstacles, delays and setbacks, or failure where you may have been sure an idea would work.
This transit is most beneficial for paperwork, reading contracts, applications, and form filling. If you have anything that requires more mundane mental labour than action, this is a good day to do so — maybe write some thank you texts for your Christmas gifts, or make preparations to return the gifts you don’t want. This will also retrigger the themes of the first two times Mercury made this transit last month.
Dec 28 - Venus ♒︎ Square Uranus ♉︎ 23’43, 07:23am
This is a spicy transit that is likely to be a little chaotic and unpredictable, but if you prepare to ‘expect the unexpected’ in your personal relationships and social interactions this can be really exciting and refreshing. Uranus brings an oddness, a queerness, an electricity and eccentricity, to how you are receiving other people during this window.
Because this square is in such contrast with the day before, there is potential that Uranus may provoke some anxiety when you are dropped into these new and potentially disruptive experiences. Trust that facing the strange is your best opportunity to convert this energy into a good time, at the very least there is nothing harmful about this transit.
Dec 30 - Moon ♑︎ Conjuncts Sun ♑︎ 09’43, 22:25pm
The final New Moon of 2024 falls in a chart that is buzzing with revolutionary energy, exciting ideas, and a tension that is pressing to break free of old structures. The prolonged oppositions between Mercury/Jupiter and Mars/Pluto that have coloured the last month or so, and their power struggles for who gets to speak, are still active.
Frustrations with systemic inequality have come to a unignorable and decisive point. Whether in your personal life or in global politics, there has been a heightened awareness of the violent dynamic our justice and legal systems impose on individuals, and a spreading realisation that these standards require communal action to meaningfully oppose. But the question remains: how?
As the Sun and Moon align in Capricorn, Saturn’s domicile, you are asked to withdraw to fortify yourself, ask what your material needs are in the pursuit of your ambitions, and clarify what is realistically achievable as an individual. This palpable energy spurs us to want to make moves, but without a plan of action you may find yourself burning out and taking on burdens that could be shared across the shoulders of your community and allies.
Capricorn assures us that this month (and this coming year, for that matter) is not a sprint. It’s about finding a practice and a pace that is sustainable, and taking practical steps over lofty Sagittarian leaps. It’s about having the resources to go the distance together, and building something with momentum that can’t be so easily distracted or set off-course. Return to the body, for it is the foundation for the life you seek.
Jan 3 - Venus ♒︎ Enters Pisces ♓︎ 00’00, 03:24am
Jan 3 - Mars (Rx) ♌︎ Opposite Pluto ♒︎ 01’08, 06:24am
Our ego’s desire is put into opposition with the deeply unconscious fear-driven mentality of Pluto under this transit, requiring a difficult decision from Mars. Usually known for its impulsiveness, during the Mars retrograde this may be an opportunity for reflection on how we act when put under this kind of traumatic pressure. Are we compelled to fight, flee, freeze, or fawn? What are we blocking in ourselves by responding that way?
When confronted with the toxic and repressed experiences that Pluto represents, a part of us is terrified if it doesn’t give into the trauma response the world will fall apart. This puts enormous strain on the body, and keeps our unconscious driving forces hidden to us. A huge part of this Mars retrograde is about exploring how we may cope with this strain, and finding the bravery to do nothing — even if only for a second longer — and seeing what happens.
This is the second of three hits of this transit. The first was on and around November 3rd, which you can look back to to see how certain themes may play out again on a personal level.
Jan 4 - Sun ♑︎ Sextile Saturn ♓︎ 13’53, 00:28am
This is a supportive transit for your willpower and virility, reassuring you in your sense of self and offering a confidence boost if you can take time to organise your life to have a little structure. Saturn wants discipline, and the Sun in Capricorn is more willing to oblige to Saturnian routine. Find a rhythm and you’ll feel the benefits of it.
Jan 6 - Mars (Rx) ♌︎ Enters Cancer ♋︎ 29’59, 10:44am
Jan 6 - Mercury ♐︎ Square Neptune ♓︎ 27’22, 13:55pm
This transit can bring confusion and a lack of clarity to our thoughts, like a fog has descended, obscuring the truth and how we are meant to make sense of things. It can make our words and ideas feel boundaryless — perhaps in a dreamy inspirational way, but also in a disorienting and demotivating kind of way where personal narratives lose meaning.
This transit may be better suited to writing some notes app poetry or allowing yourself to get lost in the story of a movie, or a show, or a book. Focus, and certainly productive focus, should not be your goal.
Jan 8 - Mercury ♐︎ Enters Capricorn ♑︎ 00’00, 10:30am
Jan 12 - Mars (Rx) ♋︎ Trine Neptune ♓︎ 27’29, 21:15pm
This transit is far more inspiring than Neptune’s brush with Mercury in the previous week. It stirs us to be more generous and empathetic in our actions, more motivated by compassion, and accelerates us toward our spiritual ideals over our more personal ego drives.
On a personal level this transit will aid Mars in its retrograde reflections. On the global stage, with a challenging Full Moon the day after, we are also likely to see a surge in nationalistic propaganda, religious extremism, and large groups being motivated by spiritual idealism.
Jan 13 - Moon ♋︎ Opposite Sun ♑︎ 23’59, 22:26pm
The first Full Moon of 2025 sees the Sun and Moon concerned, once again, with meeting our needs, but here the Cancer Moon demands we consider the emotional component to our material conditions. While the plans drawn at the New Moon needed a foundation before you could take any practical steps toward your ambition, here you will come to realise why you did it.
Unfortunately the Full Moon’s alignment with the Mars / Pluto opposition makes this a potentially violent transit. This tension between the ego’s response and the things we repress, and stuff down inside ourselves will be at its most visible during this time, and other factors in the Full Moon chart are likely to provoke you to respond quickly, chaotically, and seek idealistic answers.
Whether things are going to plan or not, this time is likely to bring out feelings around your need for control, for intervention, and your ability to sit with paradoxical information. Any perceived threat or risk to your material needs will be mirrored by the strain on your feelings, and you will feel the compulsion that something must be done about it. But, with Mars in retrograde, perhaps seeming that nothing effectual can be done.
The days around and after this date may feel like being held in suspense, and that you are in the midst of a decisive moment. It is worth reminding yourself of the New Moon’s wisdom, that listening to the body for cues on when to rest will soothe your unease. Take stock of your feelings and where they point you during this time, regardless of the choices you can or cannot yet make.
Jan 13 - Sun ♑︎ Trine Uranus ♉︎ 23’23, 08:13am
An exciting transit that will accelerate any changes in your life, or help energise you to take a new approach. Uranus always brings something new and unexpected to our lives, and this force may be just what you need to feel revitalised and liberate yourself from some of the January blues.
Co-present with the Full Moon, this emphasises the explosive and erratic tendencies of the chart, and the day may feel very fast paced and rushed. If you are feeling overstimulated and anxious take time to breathe and drop back into the body whenever you can.
Jan 14 - Venus ♓︎ Square Jupiter ♊︎ 11’59, 19:31pm
Although a square usually implies some kind of tension or obstacle to overcome, both benefics together will find relative ease with this hard aspect. This can mean a deeply meaningful conversation between friends or a partner, where both parties leave feeling lighter and optimistic about the future.
This transit can be social, but it’s also a useful transit for a bit of gratitude practice, or for getting out in nature and experiencing something beautiful. It’s also a very generative and creative transit, and it is worth attempting to do something arty or colourful under this energy. Especially with Jupiter and Venus in each other’s signs, what is dreamed up in this time is well-starred to nourish your soul.
As it is a square, one difficulty worth mentioning is that there may be a tendency to overindulge or overspend on luxury, or not get what you want out of a gamble, but for the most part this transit is positive. It is hopeful this transit serves as a balm or new focus from the pending decisions of the Full Moon.
Jan 16 - Sun ♑︎ Opposite Mars (Rx) ♋︎ 26’12, 02:38am
The tension of pending decisions throughout this week are continued by this transit, however now with slightly less emotional charge without the Moon and no small sense of empowerment. Although Mars is far from comfortable in the sky at the moment, you may find a slightly more constructive way to navigate your emotions and put your willpower toward meaningful action.
The Sun doesn’t move into conjunction with Pluto until Aquarius season, but as it draws nearer, it will change how you are interacting with your deeper unconscious motivations and power struggles for the better.
Jan 17 - Sun ♑︎ Sextile Neptune ♓︎ 27’35, 11:19am
This transit is gentle and soothing, and allows you to get swept up in something bigger than the self — be it a movie, a story, or your own creative practice. If you are prone to being a little witchy, this is a wonderful time to do some divining or explore spiritual avenues.
Neptune dissolves the borders of the self, opens us to the unconscious undercurrents and numinous energy of the world, and hopefully allows you to find a little childlike whimsy, wonder, and relax a little after the tension of the week.
Jan 19 - Venus ♓︎ Conjunct Saturn ♓︎ 16’05, 01:26am
The unlikely pairing of Venus and Saturn is never easy, but it is an incredibly mature and useful transit for our relationships — platonic, romantic, and financial. Venus here brings a gentle receptiveness, social awareness, and grace to our most ambitious yet self-flagellating parts, our depressive Saturnian side. Under this transit our sense of duty, responsibility, and our struggle for recognition is confronted and asked how does your struggle help you serve others?
Saturn is not kind to anyone; not other people and not itself. It is the part of the psyche that isolates us from other people, and yet simultaneously feels it must prove itself to be worthy of other people’s standards. Saturn is the voice, internal or external, that tells us something is not good enough or unworthy and motivates us toward self-preservation.
When Venus — the relational planet — prompts Saturn with this question, we are reminded how the need for structure, inner-strength, limits, and boundaries are not about becoming invulnerable to other people, but being able to build something real and durable with them. A healthy Saturn needs Venusian energy to open back up to the world and support.
Jan 19 - Mercury ♑︎ Sextile Saturn ♓︎ 16’06, 07:23am
Jan 19 - Mercury ♑︎ Sextile Venus ♓︎ 16’40, 16:14pm
Tied in with the Venus/Saturn conjunction at the end of Capricorn season is this supportive sextile from Mercury to both planets, which gives an added cerebral component to the dynamic. This is a perfect time to have a hard conversation with a loved one around your boundaries, and what is realistic and sustainable for the relationship.
There’s a good chance this will involve a bit of planning, negotiating, and potentially a bit of budgeting, but this time will encourage us to be honest (even if it isn’t easy) with each other and face the truth together. Doing so promises to be a productive time, and with Venus’ retrograde forecast for later next month, we will experience this transit again, so it is worth communicating with integrity now.
